After graduation, you get the same questions over and over: "What did you graduate with?", What are you doing next year?", "where are you going to live?", etc...When I tell people that I graduated with a degree in International studies, then tell them I am doing Teach for America, I know what they are probably thinking, "but she has no background in education?". I think that is one of the scariest parts of this new adventure. I wonder if my training this summer will be enough, or if I am doing my students a dis-service but not having a degree in Education. However, I have read a lot about what past and current corps members are doing and what makes them strong teachers. And I know I was picked for the same qualities they possess that make them these strong leaders, but thinking about entering the classroom is still a scary thought. I am extremely excited to embark on this adventure and make a difference, but I know I have a lot to learn and a lot of work to do this summer. I start Induction/Institute this coming week...let the adventure/challenges begin.
